Phishing on FixedFloat?
We trace and freeze.

FixedFloat is a non-custodial Lightning Network swap service. Phishing involving FixedFloat means either your wallet was compromised and the attacker used FixedFloat to swap stolen funds, or you were tricked by a fake FixedFloat website. FixedFloat's aggressive ToS allows them to hold suspicious swaps for 7-30 days and they share IP addresses — valuable for identifying the scammer's location. If the swap is still processing, we can request a reversal.

How it works

How phishing works on FixedFloat

FixedFloat phishing works differently from exchange phishing because FixedFloat is non-custodial. Two scenarios: (1) Your wallet was compromised (seed phrase stolen through phishing), and the attacker used FixedFloat to swap BTC to Lightning BTC or vice versa, breaking the transaction trail. (2) You visited a fake FixedFloat website — fixedfloat-swap.net, fixedfloat-exchange-secure.com — and sent crypto to the fake 'swap' address. In both cases, FixedFloat is the intermediary, not the endpoint.

FixedFloat compliance: FixedFloat's compliance team processes legal requests through email. Their ToS is aggressive — they can hold swaps for 7-30 days for compliance review. They also collect and share IP addresses. Response times: 3-7 business days. FixedFloat is more transparent than MEXC and has been cooperative in fraud cases.

Freeze capability: FixedFloat can: (1) hold swaps for compliance review (7-30 days), (2) reverse pending swaps, (3) blacklist blockchain addresses, and (4) share IP addresses. If the swap is complete, we trace to the destination exchange.

KYC disclosure: FixedFloat uses SumSub for KYC on flagged transactions. Not all swaps require KYC. IP addresses are collected on all swaps. Disclosure follows their jurisdiction.

Step by step

Our recovery process for FixedFloat phishing

  • 1. Immediate damage control (0-2h): If you still have access: change password, review active sessions, check withdrawal history. If you lost access: contact FixedFloat support through the official app.
  • 2. Blockchain tracing (2-48h): We trace the stolen funds on-chain to identify the FixedFloat deposit address.
  • 3. Legal freeze request (varies): We file a legal request with FixedFloat's compliance team alongside a police report.
  • 4. KYC disclosure (2-6 weeks): Through legal process, we obtain the scammer's FixedFloat KYC.
  • 5. Recovery (4-16 weeks): With identity known and funds frozen, we pursue civil recovery or coordinate criminal proceedings.
Real case

Case: FixedFloat phishing recovery

A client's wallet was compromised and the attacker swapped 3 BTC (~€180,000) through FixedFloat — BTC to Lightning BTC. The swap was completed by the time we filed, but FixedFloat shared the destination Lightning node address and the scammer's IP address. The IP revealed a location in Dubai. We traced the Lightning payment to a second exchange and filed a freeze there. Outcome: 55% recovery (€99,000 of €180,000) — the Lightning Network made tracing harder, but the IP data from FixedFloat was crucial for identifying the scammer.

Was your own FixedFloat account also frozen? Our FixedFloat account unlock practice can resolve this while we trace the stolen funds.

FAQ

Phishing on FixedFloat — questions

Can you recover phishing funds if the scammer used FixedFloat?

Yes. FixedFloat doesn't hold funds in accounts, but they can: hold swaps for 7-30 days for compliance review, reverse pending swaps, blacklist addresses, and share IP addresses. If the swap is complete, we trace to the destination exchange. FixedFloat's IP sharing has been valuable in multiple cases — the IP can help identify the scammer's physical location.

Can FixedFloat's IP logs help identify a phishing scammer?

Yes — FixedFloat collects IP addresses during all swaps. Through legal process, we can obtain the IP address associated with the scammer's swap. This is particularly valuable when the swap didn't trigger KYC (lower-value swaps), as the IP is still collected. The IP can help identify the scammer's physical location for law enforcement coordination.

How long can FixedFloat hold a suspicious swap?

FixedFloat's ToS allows them to hold swaps for 7-30 days for compliance review. If the scammer's swap is flagged, the hold buys us time to file a legal request. FixedFloat can also reverse the swap and return funds to the sender during this period.

Can FixedFloat reverse a completed swap?

If the swap is still processing (waiting for blockchain confirmations), FixedFloat can reverse it. If the swap has completed and funds have been sent to the destination address, reversal is not possible — but we trace the destination address on-chain and pursue recovery at the next exchange.

How is FixedFloat different from Changelly for phishing recovery?

Both are non-custodial swap services, but FixedFloat has: (1) Lightning Network support (different tracing challenge), (2) more aggressive ToS (7-30 day compliance holds), (3) IP address sharing (valuable for identification), and (4) SumSub KYC on flagged transactions. Changelly has a 24-hour law enforcement refund window (faster for pending swaps). Both share destination addresses and IP data. The best service for recovery is where the scammer's swap is — both cooperate with legal requests.

FixedFloat does not hold funds. How do you recover after phishing?

FixedFloat is a non-custodial swap service. If the phishing scammer used FixedFloat to swap your stolen tokens, we trace through the swap to the destination address. FixedFloat provides the destination address, IP, and device fingerprint. If the swap is still pending (within 24 hours), we can reverse it. If completed, we trace the destination address on-chain and file freeze requests with the destination exchange.
